20th Anniversary

Celebrating Two Decades

When we think about the Bonner Center for Civic Engagement’s last twenty years, we think about countless community engagement stories – from deep collaborations to place-based learning in our region, from Highland Park to Jackson Ward to Church Hill to Fulton to Southside to right here in the University’s backyard - and the alumni who were civically engaged as students and are now impacting their own communities around the world in innumerable ways.

This year, we hope you’ll join us as we celebrate this milestone and look to the next twenty years of collaborative change-making and collective learning. We will welcome two leading scholars to campus and host a series of special events and opportunities for us to connect, act, and imagine together.

The central work of the CCE over the past two decades has been to catalyze relationships, partnerships, and lifelong learning. What started as an idea on paper has grown into a vibrant, nationally recognized Center.

Civic Learning & Action Goals

This anniversary year, we launch our new Civic Learning Goals, created in collaboration with community members, staff, faculty, and students. These goals are reference points for impactful civic engagement and anyone can use them. We see all participants in civic engagement activities as learners.
