Community Relationships
The CCE is committed to forming and sustaining long-term, reciprocal partnerships that provide transformative learning experiences for students, deepen faculty engagement, respond to community-identified needs, and contribute to positive change in the region. These partnerships are guided by the CCE's commitment to collaboration, intentionality, lifelong learning, and full participation.
Our partnerships with nonprofit and governmental organizations in the region are the cornerstone of the CCE's work. The CCE defines program partnership as an ongoing, long-term relationship that aims to address community-identified needs and to enhance student learning. The consistent involvement of the community organization, UR students, and the CCE staff form the basis of our partnerships, which often include UR faculty as well. These dynamic, evolving relationships draw on the strengths of both the University of Richmond and the community organization and emerge out of a shared commitment to reciprocity, ongoing learning, and multiple approaches to collaborating for social change.
