Virginia State Capitol

A Family Weekend Event

Friday, September 25, 3-5 p.m.

Students and their families are invited to join us for a downtown excursion to explore the Virginia State Capitol and meet with Richmond alumni who will share stories of their college experiences and work in politics today. Come ready to walk the beautiful Capitol grounds and learn about Richmond through the eyes of your fellow Spiders! Participants will meet at the Transportation Hub in front of Tyler Haynes Commons.

Richmond City Council Meeting

Monday, September 28, 5-8 p.m.

Join us on an excursion to Richmond City Hall for dinner and discussion about the function of our city government, the issues of the day, and how a citizen can use their voice. Then we'll head to the Richmond City Council meeting to see it in action. Transportation and dinner are provided. Registration is required.

Richmond School Board Meeting

Tuesday, October 6, 5-8 p.m.

Join us on an excursion to Richmond City Hall for dinner and discussion with SPCS Professor Wendell Roberts. We will learn about the functions of the school board, the issues they are facing today, and how a citizen can use their voice. Then we'll head to the Richmond School Board meeting to see it in action. Transportation and dinner are provided. Registration is required.
