    Dr. Derek Miller is the Associate Director of Community-Engaged Research, Scholarship, and Relationships at the University of Richmond’s Bonner Center of Civic Engagement (CCE). In this role, Dr. Miller links community partners with faculty and staff to establish mutually beneficial partnerships that address the community’s needs while also creating opportunities for faculty research and student learning. Before joining the CCE, he taught Anthropology and Archaeology at the University of Richmond for four years. He has also been active in the Richmond community to raise awareness about Richmond’s archaeological resources. His archaeological research has spanned international boundaries having taken part in excavations in Benin, Barbados, St. Eustatius, Belize, and Virginia. He holds a Ph.D. from the College of William and Mary in Anthropology and B.A.s from the University of Virginia in Anthropology and Archaeology.
