    Dr. Jacci Banegas-Abreu is the Associate Director of Student Engagement and the Bonner Scholars Program at the Bonner Center for Civic Engagement (CCE). In this role, she oversees the Bonner Scholars Program and supports other key student-led community engagement initiatives. Jacci brings over 17 years of experience in higher education focused in areas of student success, community engagement, and program management. Prior to joining the CCE, she served as the Associate Director of the Community College Transfer Opportunity Program (CCTOP) at New York University, where she managed recruitment, admissions, and programmatic support for transfer students.

    Jacci earned her Doctorate in Education with a focus on Leadership and Innovation. Her research centered on creating accessible pathways between community colleges and private institutions, reflecting her commitment to expanding educational opportunities.

    Originally from Brooklyn, NY, Jacci relocated to Richmond in 2022. She enjoys being active in her local community and has since become an active member of her local church, The Chapel. In her free time, she loves spending quality time with her family and exploring all that Richmond has to offer. Jacci is deeply passionate about creating equitable access to education and is dedicated to fostering opportunities that empower students to thrive both academically and personally.
