Emilia Hodal is an assistant director of student engagement and the Bonner Scholar Program in the Bonner Center for Civic Engagement (CCE). Managing the sophomore cohort of the Bonner Scholar Program, she brings a diverse spectrum of educational experience to her position in the CCE. She also manages the Community Work Study program, Student Engagement Fund, and student installations in Tyler Haynes Commons.
She earned a B.A. with honors in sociology, with a concentration in social justice, from Goucher College in Baltimore, MD. While living in Baltimore, Emilia worked as a facilitator in a nonprofit after-school program, where she developed her commitment to co-curricular education and community care. Back in Richmond, Emilia worked as both a teacher and an administrator at Central Montessori School for several years. She has also collaborated with community programs such as Richmond Mutual Aid, Special Olympics Virginia, the Baltimore Creative Alliance, and Art on Purpose.
In her free time, Emilia enjoys reading, writing, music, cinema, and photography, which often leads her on adventures through woods, water, and industrial landscapes. Emilia is dedicated to contributing to a more egalitarian future, where opportunities for excellence are distributed evenly, compassionately, and with enthusiasm to every member of our society, both locally and globally.
