The Bonner Center for Civic Engagement and our student leaders host a series of opportunities to explore and engage in Richmond. Additional opportunities will be announced throughout the year.
Local Government Excursions
Richmond is a vibrant center for city and state government and public policy. The Richmond City Council and Richmond School Board meet regularly in City Hall at 301 North Ninth Street. The Virginia General Assembly convenes session every winter, beginning in January, in the Virginia State Capitol at 1000 Bank Street.
Each semester, the CCE and URGOV sponsor excursions to local government meetings. Transportation is provided for the first 11 registrants and a boxed meal dinner is served to all registered participants. Ahead of the meeting a guest speaker will provide educational context and discussion about the meeting.
