Service Opportunities

Service to the community has a long, rich history at the University of Richmond, with students engaging in service for reasons as varied as they are.

To help students choose a service opportunity best suited to their interests, talents, and field of study, the Bonner Center for Civic Engagement (CCE) maintains a Directory of Community Opportunities that details ongoing volunteer needs at local nonprofit agencies.

Students interested in one-time service opportunities rather than ongoing service opportunities should join the CCE listserv to receive weekly updates on service projects as well as on-campus and off-campus events.

In addition to these CCE-maintained lists of service opportunities, students may want to explore the following local and national Web sites:

Students interested in undertaking a special project related to their field of study—such as the development of a business plan, the redesign of a Web site, or demographic research—should contact Terry Dolson, the CCE community-based learning program manager, for assistance in drafting and submitting a request for proposals to the community.
