Overview: The James River Park System, the largest and most unique park in Richmond includes over 550 acres of shoreline and islands in the heart of the city, extending from Huguenot Bridge in the West to a half mile beyond the I-95 Bridge in the East. The James River Park offers opportunities for whitewater and flat-water canoeing and kayaking, fishing, hiking, jogging, sunbathing, wildlife exploration, historical study and much more.
Ongoing Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers play a vital role in the development and management of the James River Park. They have helped clean up the park, build trails and bridges. They have developed wildlife habitats, covered graffiti, repaired historic buildings and helped to run interpretive programs.
