Overview:

The American Red Cross, a humanitarian organization led by volunteers and guided by its Congressional Charter and the Fundamental Principles of the International Red Cross Movement, will provide relief to victims of disasters and help people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies.

Ongoing Volunteer Opportunities

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:
Volunteers are essential to Red Cross. Jobs range from actual service delivery and middle management to the highest echelons of leadership that will fulfill the Chapter's goals and objectives in disaster relief, service to the military, health and safety programs, education and transportation.

DAILY ACTIVITIES:
Volunteers at the American Red Cross can expect to carry out clerical and receptionist duties and answering phones. Volunteers interested in the disaster relief program will have to undergo a series classes and certifications and will then be on call 24/7 for emergency needs.

VOLUNTEER AVAILABILITY:
The American Red Cross is currently looking for volunteers between the hours of 8:30AM and 4:30PM Monday through Friday. Volunteers are also needed for special events throughout the year.

OTHER INFORMATION:
Volunteers are expected to dress in a business casual manner. American Red Cross is not a Federal Work Study site. For volunteers with transportation difficulties, ARC is located directly on a GRTC bus route at the 5th Street and Cary Street stop.
