Alternative Breaks

The Alternative Breaks program is part of a national movement among colleges and universities to provide students opportunities to engage domestic and international communities through "hands on" experiences during academic breaks and to promote active citizenship and life-long learning.

These short-term and intensive programs have the ability to be transformational for students and advisors. While the group may not come back well-rested, past participants have noted that they feel revived. Alternative break trips are a way for participants to get out of their comfort zone, personalize a social issue, develop a new group of peers, and will, hopefully, spark a desire to investigate a social issue more deeply.
